I’ve owned the domain ulujain.org since 1999. The domain redirects to this one as the stuff I had there overlapped with this one.
It used to be my “main site” before I decided I should post stuff under the byline of my real name. Genius, that!
So, what is a “ulujain”?
It was a place in a story I was writing years ago, and from years ago I mean late 80s or early 90s. Ulujain was on a map I drew for said story, a city or a town. The characters in the story never made it to Ulujain, so I don’t know what kind of place it was.
I made the name up – just one of those pulled it out of my head moments. At some point after that, I thought it’d be a great name to use as characters. My dark elf shadowknight from Everquest was named this. I thought I might still have screenshots of her somewhere, but alas no.
Apart from characters, I’ve used ulujain as an account name, an email address and obviously a domain.
It started to become “stigmatized” around 2005 from probable overuse as character names in various games, mostly MMORPGs. I haven’t actively used the name at all from about that era.
Even today, it has some cringe value, and I feel that when I spell the word out for the benefit of email addresses and so on.
But in case anyone was wondering what this oddball word meant, there you go! It means nothing.
